Colonel B Santosh Babu was the commanding officer of 16 Bihar regiment lost his life. Colonel B Santosh Babu was among individuals who lost his life through violent clashes with Chinese troops at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Galwan Valley in the Eastern Ladakh region.
According to the source, more two jawans called Havildar Palani and Sepoy Ojha were martyred in the mortal fight. Later, the Indian Army issued a statement"Throughout the de-escalation process in Galwan Valley, a violent face-off happened last night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer & two soldiers. Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the place to defuse the problem", the Indian Army said.

Later, in an interview, Manjula said"My son, daughter-in-law, and their two children live in Delhi. The terrible news was conveyed to me by my daughter-in-law on Tuesday day though the army officials informed her last night itself. She had been afraid I would collapse if she broke the information immediately."
His dad Upender reported that"My son had been transferred to Hyderabad but couldn't join us instantly due to the nationwide lockdown. He'd told us that he'd be with us shortly. We too felt that happy as it meant being with him for 3 decades. But we dropped him. He had been too young to die but what makes me proud is that he died fighting with the enemy."
Career
Speaking about his education he attended Korukonda Sainik School and then trained in the National Defence Academy, Pune, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. In 2004, he began his own career and joined the Army and posted it in Kashmir.
At the age of 37 he became Colonel in December 2019, his dad recalled thishe said:"He could not have become Colonel at the age of 37 if he'd not been efficient." During his career, Babu murdered three infiltrators to the country in a military operation across the Indo-Pak boundary in 2007. In his 15 years career, he served in Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Pakistan, and China border.
