Joseph Mensah is a Police Officer who has been the focal point of controversy within three fatal on-duty shootings, states protesters attacked, punched, tried to kill, and shot at him and his girlfriend in her house on Saturday night, August 8.
On Saturday, the police said that he was physically assaulted out of the girlfriend's house. Approximately 50 to 60 people were gathered outside of the house and started to vandalize it. However, Joseph tried to talk to the protesters that had been damaging the land but he had been unsuccessful.
What's more, the individuals were chanting"Black Lives Issue" during the episode. On August 9th, he composed on Facebook.
"Last night, protesters arrived into my girlfriend's home while I was there, and tried to kill me. I had been unarmed and tried to defend my house and the property of my girlfriend. We were both attacked, punched, and ultimately shot several times. A shotgun round missed me by inches. Not once did I ever swing back or reciprocate any of the hatred that has been being directed at me. I'm all for peaceful protests, even against me personally, but that was anything but calm. They threw toilet paper in her trees, broke her windows, and again, shot at both of us as they were attempting to kill me."
Subsequently, added"There are kids that live there any the knew that. The irony in all this is they chanted Black Lives Issue the entire time, but had no regard for some of the black children that live there or me, a black man."
Earlier, on July 25th Joseph composed on Facebook"If black lives issue, which I wholeheartedly do believe, then the lifestyles of each of the black women and men in law enforcement issue just as much. Our uniforms may be blue but our skin is just as black and our heritage is equally as rich. We swore an oath to people but that oath also extends to our own families and loved ones which we'll fight to go home to every day. Not one march, demonstration, lawyer, or danger can change the fact that in the eyes of God, our lives are equally as important."
Career
Joseph Mensah was suspended with pay in June after shooting and killing three people while on duty in the previous five decades. Milwaukee County District Attorney, John Chisholm found the first two shootings to be justified self-defense but nevertheless reviewing the third shooting, of Alvin Cole, 17, outdoors a significant shopping mall, Mayfair, which happened in February.
On the other hand, the authorities said in all three instances the people shot were armed.
GoFundMe page for Officer Mensah has increased over $71,077 raised of $50,000 goal and it had been organized by his brother.
