Dr. Adeline Fagan Created GoFundMe Page To Raise Cash for Her Hospital Bills.
Until now, $153,948 increased of the $150,000 goal, and the page was made on August 10, 2020.

The page reads"Adeline, an OB/GYN resident doctor, was beginning her second year of residency in Texas when she got sick. On July 8th Adeline went into work for her 12-hour change at the ER. While she mostly works delivering infants, she had been doing a rotation in the ER, treating COVID patients. That morning she moved into work feeling well and excited to see patients, but by the day she started to feel under the weather. What began as extreme flu-like symptoms escalated over the week into a hospital stay. Adeline spent the next few weeks battling COVID and has been treated with various different respiratory treatments and put on heaps of drugs. If there was no positive response to such methods of therapy Adeline made a decision to start an experimental drug trial. But before we can see if this new drug was successful, her lungs would no longer support . On August 3rd Adeline was intubated and placed on a ventilator. That night her vitals were unstable and the doctors said that she wasn't responding well to the ventilator. After consulting with our parents, the doctors took the final remaining step available. At 1am on August 4th Adeline has been placed on ECMO, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. The catheters used from the ECMO machine demanded an invasive process to set them in her rectal artery. The ventilator opens her lungs through positive pressure, while the ECMO machine oxygenates her blood. This leaves Adeline's lungs with the sole task of healing themselves. It is estimated that Adeline will probably be on the ventilator and ECMO for 6-8 weeks.

Since we are from Syracuse, NY, our parents have had to travel back and forth to be there for Adeline and continue to support our loved ones. While our Dad's task can be performed virtually, our mom can't, and therefore she can't get the job done. Additionally, our Mom can help to take care of our 91-year-old grandmother, the obligation of that has now fallen on us. When Adeline gets off life support, she'll need physical, respiratory, and occupational therapy to regain her strength and freedom. At this time, we do not know how long full recovery will take or when she is going to have the ability to go back to work.

Donations made to Adeline's cause will go toward medical expenses, her bills, traveling expenses, and also to support the family while we browse this challenging time.

We want all to understand that Adeline is a fighter. She is determined and has put her mind to endure this particular virus. As she struggles daily to get her life, we need to keep strong for her to the front. So much love and support have been shown to our family and by the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.

Any funds withdrawn from this GoFundMe will be deposited right into Adeline's accounts and will be used accordingly for the purposes stated above."
