Allen Merrick was 19 years old UAB Football player died Friday morning by a gunshot wound he suffered while seeing his home in Gadsden, Alabama.
However, details on the incident are not clear but the cops are describing as an apparent accidental shooting. Sergeant Marcus Hill says there's a continuing investigation and UAB head coach Bill Clark is asking for prayers for the family of Allen Merrick, who suffered a gunshot wound when visiting his home in Gadsden on Thursday.

He had been UAB freshman linebacker and was 19 years old through his period of death.
Merrick combined UAB as a 3-star prospect in its own 2020 recruiting class after being named the 2019 Gadsden City Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaking about his schooling Merrick is a graduate of Gadsden City High School who was sought after several schools as a result of his prowess as a linebacker, dedicated to UAB summer after receiving offers from Nebraska, Purdue, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Missouri, and Central Florida.
Throughout his period in Gadsden City, he had been appointed Gadsden City's Defensive Player of the Year and played at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game.
