He follows Islam and goes back to the Mirasi neighborhood of a poor Muslim family. He lives in a combined family and is the youngest of the four sisters. Singing is his family heritage and he brought his inspiration for singing from his forefathers only. He combined Delhi Public School, Palwal and dropped out after finishing 9th standard owing to the financial crisis. Ali was inclined towards Music by a really young age and began singing at weddings and jagarans in the age of 7.

Career
Salman Ali first came into the limelight at Age 13 when he participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs in 2011. His family's financial condition was so bad that he did not have any money to choose the auditions at Delhi. At that time, his buddy, Manohar Sharma, helped him financially to appear for the auditions.
In 2018, following seven years, Ali auditioned for Indian Idol 10 and sang"Sajda" in the choice around, which tore him entrance to the series. Ali is admired for his high pitch singing.
On December 23, 2018, Salman won the Indian Idol 10 beating another four finalists. He won a money prize of 25 lakh and a Datsun Go car.
