Career

 

Shekhar began as a cub reporter in 1977 at The Indian Express, Chandigarh. He worked there for 6 decades and stepped in 1983 to combine India Today as a reporter. There, he covered lots of big stories like Operation Bluestar, the Gulf War of 1991, along with the Nellie massacre at Assam, one of a lot more. Back in 1995, he joined The Indian Express again and finally became the Editor-in-Chief along with the CEO. He had a weekly column in The Indian Express known as National Interest. His discussion show, Walk The Conversation, was renamed as"Off The Cuff" however, it aired on NDTV 24×7, though, the possession rights were beneath Shekhar's firm, The Printing. In 2010, Shekhar Gupta shut down his firm Greenpine Agro afterwards he had been accused by the former Army General, VK Singh of tax evasion, fraud, also being included at the Commonwealth Games Scam, since Gupta hadn't filed tax for several decades, and he then registered 8 decades of his institution's balance sheets on a single day on 18 January 2010. In a meeting to the Open Magazine,'' Mehta explained that Shekhar had composed a post before in 2012 intentionally to harm the standing of the former Army Chief General, VK Singh. In response to this announcement, Gupta sued Vinod Mehta and the Open magazine. This dilemma was hyped as lots of individuals said that Gupta responded immaturely to this entire scenario.
