Don Lewis disappeared apparently without a trace and according to the Tampa Bay Tribune,"His van was located at a Pasco County airport with the keys on the ground. Deputies searched the wildlife sanctuary, then called Wildlife on Easy Street, also flew to Costa Rica searching for leads.

Don Lewis was a self-made millionaire through his property and used car businesses. In 1955he graduated from Pasco High School, and from a young age, he was employed as a mechanic and a farmhand.
