She wished to become a celebrity from a really young age and while she was in her teens, she left her house to reach her dream. Zarina saw an ad about an acting class and proceeded to Pune to pursue it. She graduated in the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. But she had been rejected by Raj Kapoor because he wasn't pleased with her appearances and mannerisms. Wahab, subsequently, worked on her physical appearance and dressed herself. Thereafter, she began attending a variety of events and movie celebrations. When she had been attending one party, she was seen by the manager, Basu Chatterjee, who provided Zarina a movie.

Career
Zarina began her acting career in 1974 with the movie"Ishq Ishq Ishq" where she played the use of Zeenat Aman's sister. She played the lead part in Basu Chatterjee's"Chit Chor." The movie was a massive hit and recognized Wahab as a celebrity. Afterward, she included in movies including"Gharaonda,""Agar,""Zajbaat,""Sawan Ko Aane Do," and"Raees Zada." Zarina has also acted in Telugu movies like"Gajula Kishtayya," Malayalam movies like"Madanolsavam," Kannada movie like"Ee Bandha Anubandha," and"Tamil movie like Vishwaroopam."
